Growing up in a Peruvian & Guatemalan household, itβs easy to see where the inspiration for TUME stems from.
Having become vegetarian at a young age, she started cooking and learning how to transform traditional meat-heavy dishes into vegetarian dishes.
Trained in a classical French culinary school, she graduated with a degree in Patisserie & Baking in 2011. Shortly after, she transitioned to being vegan and she launched an all vegan catering business, Cookie Mei,in Orlando,FL in 2012.
When she moved across the country she transitioned to eating plant-based, mainly because she was seeing more and more vegan items become heavily processed, she knew there was a better and healthier way of eating that would still support her ideals of ending animal agriculture. She is now focusing on the family dishes she misses most and making sure these traditional dishes still bring a sense of nostalgia to everyone.
